Overview

Ultium CAM is a joint venture between POSCO FUTURE MATERIALS CANADA INC. and GM CANADA. Located in Becancour, Quebec, Canada, we specialize in battery materials, focusing primarily on cathode active materials, essential for Lithium Ion batteries.

POSCO FUTURE MATERIALS CANADA INC. is affiliated with POSCO FUTURE M, a key player in the POSCO group. POSCO FUTURE M stands as a leader in producing both cathode and anode materials vital for various battery types, including those powering electric cars.

In late 2021, GM and POSCO FUTURE M announced a collaboration to establish a production facility in Becancour, Canada. This venture aims to spearhead North American production of Cathode Active Materials (CAM) - a critical component in electric vehicle batteries.

Commissioning begins in July 2024, with production ramping up by March 2025. We aim to hire more than 200 employees. Producing 30,000 tons of cathode active materials, Ultium CAM is set to be a frontrunner in the battery industry of the Quebec region.
